A POLICE officer is now on the beat in Carrick Academy corridors.
PC William Porter has been appointed as the campus officer at the Maybole school.
PC Porter who has been a cop for 10 years will be on hand to keep pupils safe as well as offer advice to families.
He said: “I’m really looking forward to the challenge.” Community safety officer Jamie Dunlop said: “Campus officers act as a source of advice for children on a number of matters, including road safety, drugs and alcohol.
“They provide a point of contact for families within the school environment to seek advice and discuss issues or concerns.
“They have a very important role in schools and provide a positive role model interacting with young people.”
