The successful event got underway on Friday with a parade featuring entertainment from Campbell Sproat and Pav Catchcart of Ayr band Seaside Sons. Also featured were the Infinity All Stars dance group, who performed some of their moves on the beach and Some Wummin Drumming played steel drums.

Troon’s Got Talent attracted pupils from all primary schools in Troon and Dundonald. The winner was Amy Davies of Muirhead PS, who performed some percussion in time to The Cup Song, while Sofia Corti of St Patrick’s PS was runner-up and in third place was Amy Calder of Barassie PS.

Leading Glasgow band Gun, pictured below, attracted 400 punters to Troon Concert Hall on Saturday and performed new single, Everyone’s a Winner, proceeds of which are being donated to charity Marie Curie Cancer Care. All-girl band the Amorettes also entertained.

Donnie Munro of Runrig fame performed on Friday at the Concert Hall with Skerryvore and on Sunday the Chaplins entertained at the South Beach Hotel with Alan Frew and Kittclapperdin.

A showcase for young bands including the Cairds from Kilmarnock was organised as a free event for families at the South Beach Hotel on Saturday.

Organiser Ian McCaig said: “The parade went well and we had more than 150 performers.

“Our advance ticket sales were 1,000 and we sold a couple of hundred more at the weekend. The pubs were really busy for live music and on Saturday alone we had 40 live acts in the town.”
