THREE men have been arrested after an alleged theft of overhead electric cables in Mossblown.

The theft happened from Sandyford Road during the early hours of Friday September 4.

The stolen cables are worth around 4 and-a-half thousand pounds.

Police spotted a blue BMW allegedly speeding on the A77 and pulled the car over to investigate.

The three men inside were behaving suspiciously and were subsequently detained after a large quantity of cable in the vehicle.

The men aged 24, 25 and 40 were arrested for the theft and it was discovered that one of the men has a European Arrest Warrant out in his name.

Following his arrest, he is expected to be transferred to Edinburgh High Court.
