GIRVAN Youth Trust have had a £50,000 cash boost.
The funding from the Big Lottery Fund is part of the Young Start programme which the group will use to implement a structured volunteering programme for young people as well as one-to-one support and developing partnerships with youth worker, teachers and youth organisations.
Bill Logan, Project Manager from Girvan Youth Trust said: “The award from the Young Starts grants programme is excellent news as it allows the Trust to grow and develop our capacity to meet the changing social and developmental needs of today’s young people.” MSP Adam Ingram welcomed the news and said: “This is very welcome news for Girvan Youth Trust and the young people in the local area who will benefit from the programme.
“The funding award of £50,000 is a substantial contribution but more importantly it will allow Girvan Youth Trust to deliver a programme that has a positive impact on the lives of our local young people and their communities.
“Girvan Youth Trust has been very successful in their funding applications, taking the initiative to tap into funding streams such as the Young Start grants programme to deliver a wide and varied programme over many years.
“Without these grants they would have found it very difficult to raise the money required to fulfil their aims and objectives.
“I wish this particular volunteering programme every success and I am certain that Girvan Youth Trust will continue to provide for and support our local young people for many years to come.”
