SCOTRAIL have cancelled their trains from Ayr to Irvine this morning as a result of damage to the overhead electric wires between the towns.
It is possible that the disturbance has been caused by the adverse weather conditions.
Train services between Glasgow Central and Ayr may be terminated at and started from Irvine.
Disruption is expected to last until 12:00pm this afternoon. Replacement buses will operate between Irvine and Ayr calling at stations with the exception of Barassie.
A separate minibus will operate between Barassie and Irvine and journey times will be extended due to the use of replacement road transport.
Scotrail would like to apologise for any delays and inconveniences caused to their passengers.
