A 34 year-old man has died following a road crash on the A719 near Tarbolton on Tuesday March 29.

Around 9.50am on Tuesday morning, the 34-year-old man was driving a silver Honda Jazz northbound on the A719 near to Tarbolton, when it was involved in a road crash with a black Ford Focus being driven southbound by a 48 year-old man.

Emergency services attended but the 34-year-old man died at the scene. He can now be named as Gordon Hill of Irvine.

Relatives have been made aware.

A 21-year-old female passenger in the Honda was taken by ambulance to Crosshouse Hospital where she is being treated for her injuries. Hospital staff describe her condition as stable. A 44-year-old passenger in the Honda received minor injuries but he did not require hospital treatment.

The 48-year-old male driver of the Ford Focus was taken by ambulance to Ayr Hospital where he was treated for a leg injury prior to being discharged.

Gordon’s family have asked us to issue the following statement on their behalf.

“Gordon will be sadly missed by his family and friends and we would like to express our thanks to all the emergency services who attended the road crash.”

Sergeant Ian Thornton of the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Irvine said: “Enquiries are still ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding this collision and I would urge anyone who witnessed the collision, or who may have information that would assist our investigation to contact the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Irvine by calling the Police Scotland non-emergency number 101.”
