A MAN from Dundonald has admitted driving under the influence of drink or drugs and being in possession of cannabis.

Andrew Parish, of Parkthorn View, Dundonald pled guilty to driving a car while unfit to drive as a result of drink or drugs on November 2, 2015 on Dundonald Road.

He further admitted being in possession of cannabis, a class B drug on the same day but maintained his innocence for being in possession of cocaine, a class A drug at Ayr Police Station on November, 3 2015 which was accepted by the court.

Parish appeared before Sheriff Mhairi MacTaggart at Ayr Sheriff Court on Wednesday, April 13 on charges one and two.

The court heard that on the date the incident took place, police officers were on patrol. It was obvious to them the vehicle had drugs.

When the approached the car they found Parish and a passenger inside. There was a very strong smell of cannabis. They were both detained and questioned by the police and 30.2 grams of cannabis was found.

The accused was taken to the police station for questioning and his vision was impaired. He was questioned and released on undertaking on December 7 at Ayr Sheriff Court.

Sentence has been deferred for the purpose to obtain a criminal justice social work report on charges one and two. Parish's bail has been continued.
