NICOLA Sturgeon visited shoppers in Ayr Town Centre on Monday, April 25 as part of the SNP election campaign.

The First Minister began her tour of the town at Clintons Cards opposite the bus station to show her support for local SNP candidate Jennifer Dunn.

Crowds of activists turned out to greet the First Minister, who grew up in Ayrshire, as she visited a local shop and a café to speak to as many locals as possible.

Speaking about the visit, Jennifer Dunn said: "I was absolutely delighted that Nicola visited Ayr to support the campaign to win the constituency in the Scottish Parliament.

"We’ve been working hard on doorstep campaigning for months now, and the First Minister’s visit will be a real talking point for the town, as well as giving the team a boost."

The Scottish elections take place on Thursday, May 5. Readers can view the Advertiser's election special in this weeks paper.
