A FORMER Celtic employee, who admitted biting and punching his friend, has been fined £500.

Brodie appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court again, before Sheriff Montgomery last Tuesday, April 19.

Brodie of Corton Howe, Ayr pleaded guilty to repeatedly striking a door, behaving in a threatening or abusive manner, uttering derogatory comments and acting aggressively.

The court heard in the evening of Saturday, March 5 the witnesses were drinking together with Brodie at a property in Ayr.

In the early hours of the next morning, Brodie became repeatedly threatening and aggressive towards his peers.

At first the group took it as a joke and asked him to stop making these remarks but Brodie shoved and punched his drinking companion in the face and into the door, threatening him.

Witnesses managed to separate the two, who contacted the police. Police attended the house, found Brodie and took him to Ayr Police Office.

Speaking on his behalf, defence solicitor Steven Maxwell, said: "Mr Brodie was at the house with the complainer and friends -watching Sky.

"There had been some difficulty as to how Mr Brodie was pronouncing one of their names. [Sian] There were three different attempts from Mr Brodie partly because alcohol had been taken.

"Mr Brodie became annoyed in what became a scuffle. He was on bail and remanded in custody. He does have a record. He got involved in a number of issues against him which landed him at Selkirk Sheriff Court in an incident before this.

"I don't know if your Lordship could be persuaded that a significant fine is enough."

Brodie has been fined £500 compensation which he will pay to the complainer by Tuesday, May 17. He will also complete a 12 month CPO and 120 hours of unpaid work within six months.
