THE EAGLE Tavern at Prestwick Cross shut it's doors last week to allow a £150,000 refurbishment to take place.

The tavern, which has been in Prestwick for a long time is not just expected to undergo substantial renovation in the coming weeks but will be renamed 7 Saints to mark its change of direction.

Pub Owner, Nick Livingstone, who is from Cumnock, has promised that the project will transform the run down pub into a stylish bar and create 12 new jobs and will bring something new to Prestwick.

This is the 32-year-olds first bar of his own who has been looking for a bar in Ayrshire for over a year and says his new venture is a dream come true.

He said: "I’ve wanted my own bar ever since I took a part time job as a bar person when I was 18 to supplement my wages as a trainee engineer.

"I like all the independent businesses and the relaxed nightlife in Prestwick so coming from Ayrshire it was my ideal town for my first venture.

"It’s very difficult to get a pub here and I feel incredibly lucky to have found one in such a great location and with the opportunity for a big investment."

The final conditions of the pubs licensing terms were discussed at a recent licensing meeting last Thursday, April 21 who agreed the name change.

They also agreed the times where the bar previously sold alcohol from 10am until 12.30am Monday to Saturday and 12.30pm until midnight to 12pm to 1am Sunday - Thursday.

Fridays and Saturdays will also see 7 Saints licensed from 12pm until 2.30pm.

Cllr Douglas commented: "I regret the name change, as it is a historic name which has been there a long while but times move on."

Cllr Convery wittily added: "I don't think you will find 7 Saints in Prestwick. I am comfortable about this."
