OVER 30 people from Girvan and surrounding KA26 areas shared ideas on how to develop their town at the Carrick Opportunities Centre recently.

A new initiative run by Firstport, Scotland's agency for start up entrepreneurs, called 'What if... Girvan' was launched on Wednesday, April 27 in a bid to benefit the local community.

34 people attended in total to chat about what they would like to see established in their community.

They were put into groups and had to make a post card, 10 years from now, to send to a relative telling them what they had been up to in their town.

Later on in the evening they had to write down what was already going on and what they knew about their area.

A spokesperson for Firstport said: "We were impressed with the turnout and interest from locals. Many who attended are people who are actively involved in the community ranging from stakeholders in the council to people who were just curious.

"The activities they completed indicated there was a real interest a lot of excitement for the new leisure centre. Many people wrote on their post cards they had visited cafes and a market."
