A PERVERTED pensioner has been jailed for making vile sexual remarks to his own sister.

The vile 70-year old appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court last week where he pled guilty to the offence he committed last month.

The man, from Girvan, committed the disgusting offence at his home on February 8 against his own sister who was recovering from a  serious illness.

He pled guilty to sending her a text message that was grossly offensive or of an indecent, obscene or menacing nature in that he made sexual remarks to his 69-year old sister.

Sheriff Mhairi MacTaggart blasted the man for a ‘breach of trust’ by sending the message to a member of his family.
Sheriff MacTaggart said: “You will appreciate that what causes me concern is the nature of this offence and set against your albeit very brief but significant record.

“What concerns me with this is it was a member of your family. It’s your sister who is recovering from a very serious illness.

“What I can’t move away from is this is a significant offence and has a significant sexual element to it.

“This was someone who trusted you and you breached that trust in a significant way.”

Defence solicitor, Gordon Robson, noted that his client “is under no illusion as to how anyone will view this offence”. Mr Robson also noted how the man’s marriage hinged on the sentence he was set to receive.

The disgraced pensioner bowed his head in the dock as he was handed his sentence.

Sheriff MacTaggart jailed the man for seven months. That was reduced from 10 months for his early guilty plea.
In addition he has been placed on the sex offenders register for the next ten years.

He was also placed under a Sexual Offences Prevention Order which now means he will have to notify police of any electronic devices that he owns. He was also banned from using any other devices that could see him sending electronic communications with anyone else. He must also make any electronic devices that he owns available for inspection anytime a police officers asks.
