A GIRVAN family are one step closer to reaching their £10,000 target for Pancreatic Cancer.

Marion Barr, her husband Dougie and daughter Chloe started fundraising in 2014 after Dougie's mother sadly passed away from the illness in 2009.

A charity night at the Hamilton Arms Hotel in Girvan, featuring drag act Lexie Lush and psychic Eppie Jackie, at the end of last month raised £1279.

Once the acts had been paid, Pancreatic Cancer research and the Davidson ward in Girvan Community Hospital received £450 each.

Marion said: "We have now raised £7000 for pancreatic cancer with more events to follow. Lexie lush will be back in November.

"On behalf of my husband Dougie and myself we would like to thank the Hamilton arms for using their venue eppie Jackie and friends Stephen mcfeely and lexie lush for entertainment.

"Also for their kind donations Gail McMaster, Alissa Syme, Kayleigh Boal, Scott Brands, Weld Pro Qual, Mcculloch Rail, Woodlands, Whiskey Experience, Rangers Football Cub, Dowhill, Carrick cakes, Pets At Home Ayr, Girvan pet store and most importantly to everyone that attended and made the night a huge success."

Pancreatic cancer will add this money to their funds while the Davidson Ward at Girvan Community Hospital received fish tank as well as a laptop. two I-pods and two headphones to start up their play lists for dementia patients.
