MORE than 200 Troon secondary school pupils have been given the opportunity to work at the Open when it arrives this summer.
The pupils involved are from Queen Margaret Academy as well as Marr College and were given the final arrangement of the Games at Marr on Monday while the Claret Jug was in the school.
Environment Convener of the Royal Troon Joint Open Championship Tom Campbell, said: "It is mainly 14 and 15-year-olds who will be working but we have some 16 and 17-year-olds too.
"This is obviously very topical for Troon and the third time I have had some involvement with this. Troon pupils who attend Queen Margaret are also involved."
The schools were contacted at the end of last year to see if the pupils wanted to be involved and everything was put in place a few months ago.
They will work six day in total cleaning up at the Open.
Tom continued: "This will be a fantastic experience for them to be involved in. They will remember they got involved and the atmosphere at the event and it will give them a chance to earn more money."
It is just one month until the Open starts which runs from Thursday, July 14 until Sunday, July 17.
