A MAN from Mauchline has set up a mini garden centre at his home to raise money for the National Association of Disabled Craft works.

Alec Conrad-Marshall is looking for volunteers to help him with his new venture at 4 Crosshill Cottages on Trabboch Road. He originally established a similar programme some 25-years-ago in a bid to help the charity raise money.

Speaking about his new venture, Alec said: "I have had the workshop up and running for 12 months now. What I am looking for is a volunteer to come and help me and a companion more than anything else.

"I will pay travel expenses and provide a cup of tea. I am also appealing for people who would give me their scrap. Lloyds Bathrooms and Kitchens have given me plastic bath tubs. MGM Timber in Prestwick has also kindly donated."

Alec is appealing for anything that would help the garden centre to blossom. He continued: "If there is anything recyclable or anything there are going to through away that I can use I would appreciate it.

"For example double glazing and old tools can help me made beds for plants."

Anyone who is interested in getting involved can visit Alec at 4 Crosshill Cottages, Trabboch Road, KA5 5HJ or contact him on 01290 552 174.
