CONCERN has been raised over careless parking near Troon's High Grove House Hotel as a result of their new terrace being installed.

In the last month local local police have received six complaints about the situation as the hotel do not seem to have been able to put in extra parking spaces when their extension was created.

Officers are now working with the Ayrshire Roads Alliance who are looking to create an additional 15 parking slots at the venue.

Inspector Alister Kelly said: "This may not be sufficient but we have given them advice on the problem on how to stop people parking their vehicles on the verge.

The issue was discussed at the latest Troon Community Council meeting. Concerns were made by members who highlighted that Old Loads Road, where the High Grove sits, is a 60mph zone.

It is a popular road used by joggers and cyclists but recently vehicles have been parked on the hill and members fear this could result in an accident.
Inspector Kelly added: "We have had significant problems on that road end and do not want to end up with another one.

"We did have a discussion with them [the hotel] about the issues and we are certainly going to do something about it.

"At the moment we have put up blue police tape to stop people from parking inconsiderately near the hotel but this is not a long term solution. We are hoping to place boulders to solve the solution once and for all."

Since receiving the complaints, police and Ayrshire Roads Alliance have teamed up to work with the High Grove to put the controversy at an end.
