PERSONAL Drones have been forbidden in Troon as the Open gets underway this week.
There is a temporary air restriction order in place for the duration of the event which means personal drones are not allowed to be used.
A spokesperson for Ayrshire Police Division said: "This is a major event with over 200,000 people expected to attend and millions more watching on television from around the world.
"In line with events of this nature, to ensure public safety and minimise disruption to the local community a number of restrictions are in place. In the coming days we will make use of our social media accounts to raise awareness on these.
"This is first and foremost for the safety of all the spectators and players alike."
Visitors, businesses and local residents are being encouraged to plan ahead and familiarise themselves with transport plans, event times and safety arrangements as The Open gets underway at Royal Troon Golf Course this weekend.
