AYR'S Gaiety Theatre will open its doors to members of the public this September after months of renovation.

On Saturday, September 10 celebrations will kick off in style with a street parade at 11.30am from Ayr Central before the official opening ceremony starts at noon at the theatre itself.

The publicly nominated community champion will act as an officiant for the opening ceremony along with some familiar faces which will be announced in due course.

Audiences can go behind the scenes and tread their brand-new boards from 12.30pm on free guided tours (pre-booking is advisable and available online and from the Box Office).

During the studio theatre tour the volunteer-led heritage team will unveil their first photographic exhibition with tales old and new from stars and audience members alike.

Take a trip down memory lane with specially commissioned film premiere created by Eileen Frater from Prancing Jack Productions featuring; Dave Anderson, Johnny Beattie, Dean Park; Michelle McManus; Robert C Kelly; Joyce Falconer and Deacon Blue’s Jim Prime.

Chris Steele’s Stagedoor Café will have celebratory specials throughout the day and be serving up your favourite BBQ snacks in our outdoor area.

In the four years since Ayr Gaiety Partnership reopened The Gaiety they’ve welcomed over 222,234 people to over 900 performances and now we are delighted to lift the curtain on our next chapter.

Tickets for our Autumn Season & Backstage Tours are now on sale and can be purchased on The Gaiety website (www.thegaiety.co.uk), at the Box Office (Monday - Saturday 10am - 5pm) or over the phone (01292 288 235).
