A PET owner has been left devastated after her beloved cat was mauled to death by a Japanese Akita dog in Prestwick.
It is claimed that the dog was dangerously out of control at 12pm on Sunday, September 9 on Carnell Terrace.
The Ayr Advertiser Series understands the owner saw the dog attack her cat which left it unable to stand up as it suffered neurological damage.
Inquires into the attack are continuing but it is believed the owner of the dog is known locally. As the paper went to press, there were no updates on the situation.
