CRAIG Tara's plans to form 41 static caravan pitches have been approved by South Ayrshire Council.

Representative from Craig Tara met with councillors at the planning meeting at County Hall chaired by councillor Peter Convery. One of the major benefits cited by Craig Tara was that the added caravan pitches will be a boost to tourism to South Ayrshire.

However, the plans were met with criticism by a local residents as the added caravan pitches could bring increased flooding to the area when bad weather occurs. This is due to the drains that have to be installed that over flow and flooding down the hill affects the main road A719 Dunure Road.

An Ayrshire Roads Alliance representative said:"Flooding does come from the field on to a public irrespective of this planning application. The Ayrshire Roads Alliance is seeking to address this."

Councillor Ian Cavana expressed his concerns regarding noise pollution.
He said:"I have a slight problem. Between March and October it will get busier. So the 41 pitches can become even more busy which is a noise pollution concern."

Councillor Peter Convery was happy to hear that Craig Tara and Ayrshire Roads Alliance were going to work together to prevent future flooding in light of this application.

He said:"My issue was the flooding, it is not safe. I am glad to hear Craig Tara and Ayrshire Roads Alliance are working together to sort this out."
The plan was then approved by South Ayrshire's councillors.
