PRIMARY schools in Troon are being asked to submit their favourite Roald Dahl bedtime story to win some free books.

To celebrate Roald Dahl Day, which took place last week, Stewart Milne Homes have launched their search to find the nations top tale.

To celebrate the importance of reading and the enjoyment that comes from a good book, Stewart Milne Homes are asking local primary schools in Troon to submit their top five stories.

Six schools from across the UK will be selected to win a share of a £1,500 literacy fund.

It is hoped this will encourage young readers in the area to pick their favourite story and that the literacy fund, which is designed to help young readers, with the provision of books they can enjoy.

Marlyn Boal, sales and marketing director at Stewart Milne Homes, said: "Roald Dahl captured the hearts and imaginations of kids all over Britain and continues to do so today, so what better day to mark his legacy than on the 100th anniversary of his birth.

"Books not only offer an excellent tool for learning and development but are also a great way to unwind after a busy day and can help towards a good night’s sleep, something that we are passionate about at Stewart Milne Homes."

Stewart Milne Homes will be asking the public to help select the overall favourite bedtime story from the top five most popular books across its UK developments. This will be held on the homebuilder’s Facebook page.

All entries must be received by 5pm on Friday, September 30 and should include the name of the primary school, class (if any in particular) and contact details.
