UP TO £1000 is up for grabs for local community projects in South Ayr and Coylton areas.

Groups will have the chance to bid for the cash at the end of the month for the plans, which must relate to supporting health and wellbeing, to help make a difference in their area.

All bidders and participants must be able to attend and register for the Ayr South Decides - Participatory Budgeting event on Saturday, October 22.

Each organisation can bring up to five supporters, age 12 and over, with them who can also vote. Bidders will have three minutes to pitch their idea by talking, singing, reciting a poem, presentation, drawings or real life examples.

Those taking part must vote for all projects, scoring from 1-5 (five being the best). Voting sheets must have a score for each project or they will not be valid.

There will be a star prize on the day for one lucky participant who submitted their completed voting sheet. Voting will take place after each pitch. Unsuccessful bidders will be offered support to access other potential funding, where appropriate.

The event is being held at Belmont Academy on Saturday, October 22 between 11a, and 2pm. Registration opens at 10am.
