TWO neighbours are behind bars after being caught in a drugs operation following an anonymous tip-off to police.

Drugs with a street value of around £120,000 was seized during the raid on May 27, 2015 , along with drug paraphernalia.

At the High Court in Glasgow unemployed Alan Scott, 41, of Auchenblane Cottage, Kirkoswald, admitted being concerned in the supply of cocaine and herbal cannabis at his home between May 1 and 27, last year.
Construction worker Craig McKechnie, 35, of Auchenblane Farm, Kirkoswald, was convicted of being concerned in the supply of cocaine at the farm from May 1 to 27, last year.

Prosecutor Stewart Ronnie said: “Police received a tip-off and obtained a search warrant to search the cottage and the farm.

“When they searched the cottage and found a bag containing cannabis and another with cocaine.

“Mr Scott gestured towards the farm and said 'I got £150 a week for looking after drugs'”

McKechnie denied being involved in the supply of cocaine, but he was convicted after trial.

The court heard that a bag containing a significant amount of Cannabis was found in the kitchen of the cottage. Police also uncovered a sports bag in the cottage's spare room beside some weights.

Initially Scott told the police the bag had been there for three weeks, but in evidence he said: “I don't remember seeing it until that day when I was sitting on the bench and saw it sitting there.”

The court heard that when police showed him the bag Scott asked if there was white stuff inside.

He was asked how he knew this and replied: “It was just a guess.”
Scott said in evidence that he saw McKechnie in the farm kitchen mixing cocaine and adulterates.

Judge Lady Carmichael remanded both men in custody and deferred sentenced on them until next month at the High Court in Edinburgh.
