A PRESTWICK woman was one of over 200 volunteers nominated to be recognised for a prestigious volunteer awards organised by national health and social care charity Sue Ryder.

Rachel Breadner from Prestwick has won highly commended in the ‘Special Recognition for an Outstanding Contribution Volunteer Award’ for her priceless contribution as Volunteer at the Sue Ryder Prestwick shop, one of 450 of the charity’s shops in the UK. Known for her friendly attitude among volunteers and customers alike, Rachel welcomes everyone she comes into contact with and creates a positive working atmosphere.

Rachel frequently helps staff at Sue Ryder fundraising events and stock takes, and is perhaps best known for her eye-catching window displays that draw customers into the shop and increase sales to support the charity’s incredible hospice and neurological care.

Laina Girvan, Sue Ryder, Shop Manager said “Rachel is always cheerful and has a fabulous rapport with all the customers and other volunteers. Her talents as a window dresser are amazing; we usually sell most items from her windows within the first day and often get phone calls from people that have noticed her window.

"She creates lots of props for her exciting windows and is so enthusiastic about making us stand out from the many other charity shops in Prestwick. I would have no hesitation in offering her a job if a paid position was available as she is a huge asset to our shop and Sue Ryder”.
