THE PARTNER of beauty legend Craig Alexander Wilson has described him as the ‘kindest person he’d ever met’

The 38-year-old sadly passed away on New Year’s Eve after suffering a short illness.

Craig, who grew up in Drongan, had been the Sunday Mail’s beauty editor for 16 years. Mum Carine, 61, dad Alex, 63, brother Greig, 35, and partner Will, 45 were his biggest supporters.

He also ran Wilson & Wilson in Prestwick for several years, along with his brother.

His partner of 10 years, Will Raeburn said: “He was the kindest person I ever met. He would have given you his last penny or the shirt off his back. If someone admired something he was wearing, he would take it off and give it to them.

“You only had to meet Craig for five minutes and you felt like you had known him forever. He had the incredible gift of making everyone feel special. Craig never failed to make an entrance. Happiness followed him wherever he went.”

Will added: “Despite his previous illness, Craig’s death came as a shock to us all.

“Although it’s heartbreaking that our time together has been cut short, it’s better to have 10 years with him than 10 years without. I feel privileged to have had him in my life.”

Mum Carine said: “His main aim in life was to make me and his dad proud. Craig was his brother’s hero. My boys were, and always will be, my world.

“His dad is heartbroken. He’s lost his big beautiful boy. He will always be my baby and his legacy will never end. He was not only my son, he was my friend. His strength has rubbed off on me and that’s what is keep me going.”

Craig got his first job aged14 scrubbing pots at the Sidewalk Cafe in Ayr. He raised more than £6500 for The Prince and Princess of Wales Hospice in Glasgow through a music and dance afternoon.

Tributes honouring Craig have flooded social media.
His niece posted: “Goodbyes hurt the most, when the story was not finished. Your story had just begun Uncle Craig.”

Another friend added: “Absolutely devastated that this beautiful human being @beautyboycraig has passed away... such a wonderful person full of humour, love and laughter.”

Ayr Advertiser Editor Caroline Paterson said: “I had the pleasure of meeting Craig and he was not a person you could forget. He made everyone feel special because he was so special himself.”
Craig’s funeral is at noon on Friday, January 13, at The Schaw Kirk, Drongan, followed by burial at Drongan Cemetery at 1.15pm.
