AN Ayr man damaged a neighbour’s car in a revenge attack, a court has heard.

Scott Davidson, 29, from Ross Street, appeared at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.

The court heard how Davidson scratched the motor with a claw hammer during the early morning stunt after he suspected his own car had been damaged.

Davidson had spent the night boozing before he struck.

Depute fiscal Neva Houston said: “At 7.50am on September 4, the police received a call about an ongoing disturbance involving a hammer.

“On seeing the police the accused came towards them, saying, ‘You’ll be here for me then’.”

Officers noted the presences of the hammer and a blood-soaked towel.
CCTV was then reviewed and showed the accused scratching the motor.

Defence solicitor, Ian Gillies said: “Mr Davidson’s vehicle has been vandalised a couple of times.

“He was much the worse for wear and took the law into his own hands.
“He realises he was very foolish and stupid.
“He realises that this is not the way to handle this.

“It was 7.50am and he had been drinking most of the night.”

Sheriff Desmond Leslie took on board Davidson’s lack of previous convictions, saying: “You don’t have a significantly bad record.”
He fined Davidson £400 for the attack and also ordered him to pay an additional £200 in compensation.
