TROON Coastal Rowing Club recruits banished the New Year blues by taking part in an outing.

Meeting at the Yacht Haven they enjoyed a dram and shortbread, Christmas cake and gingerbread supplied by lady members. Two skiffs from the club then set off in a brisk north wind for an enjoyable row around the inner harbour area.

They also took part in bag packing at Morrison's on December, raised a hugely impressive total of £971.32 for club funds and this was achieved by only 13 club members.

Thanks go to everyone who took part and also the generous shoppers who dug deep to support the club.

Five skiffs from the Troon club last month spent the morning rowing up the River Garnock and out of Irvine Harbour to the sea and beached up on the sands on the banks of the river.

That same evening they took part in the Irvine Festival of Light. Thanks to Bruce from Anstruther for his picture from that event.

Forty members of the club also enjoyed a festive dinner at Scott's.
