A WOMAN had to be airlifted to hospital after she suffered from burn injuries.

The 23-year-old was rescued from a house on Ayr's Lochlea Drive on Sunday, January 15 at around 4.30pm.

Local residents reported seeing a helicopter landing nearby on Glencairn Park with other emergency services on the scene for over an hour.

The woman was taken to Glasgow Royal Infirmary where her condition is being described as stable.

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "At 4.30pm on Sunday, January 15 police were called to a report of a 23-year-old woman being injured at a property on Lochlea Drive.

"Emergency services attended and the woman was taken by Heli-med to the Glasgow Royal Infirmary.

"She remains in hospital and staff describe her condition as stable."

Police have confirmed that inquires are ongoing into the cause of the incident and that no-one else was injured in the accident.
