POPULAR theatre school Razzamataz Ayr are launching free sessions throughout January and February as part of their campaign to increase fitness amongst children.

The group are all too familiar with the trend of ditching healthy lifestyle resolutions after the New Year celebrations have passed.

They know that, to make choices which are healthy and beneficial, it is necessary to incorporate them into our daily routine. This is no different when referring to children.

By enrolling in performing arts classes, children are more likely to become committed to appearing for classes, as well as taking part in activities beneficial to the mind and the body.

Principal of Razzamataz Ayr, Kirsty, said: “Leading a fit and healthy lifestyle is not just about the foods we eat and the exercise we take. It is equally about creating well rounded, confident children who are able to empathize with others and put their feelings first.

“All these emotions and life lessons can be played out throughout performing arts classes and by doing so, we can help to create happy and healthy children who will reach their full potential.”

Razzamataz have also noted that making children’s exercise fun is crucial, otherwise they have the potential to be discouraged for life, before even beginning to establish healthy practices.

Razzamataz Ayr currently offer classes for children aged 4-18 years, and many students leave with a solid foundation in dance, drama and singing. They will be able to cover a variety of genres, ranging from classical West End musical theatre, through to acting for camera, as well as pop singing and street dance.

These fun classes are accessible for all children, regardless of their background or ability, with a substantial focus on keeping fit and active, as well as having fun and making friends along the way.

Says Kirsty: “Being your best self is about being the healthiest in both mind and body that you can be.

“Children naturally have lots of energy and it is important that we harness this and their creativity to steer them in a positive direction in life.”
