PLANS are being set in motion for a new weekly race in Troon.
Resident Ahmed Khan, who recently moved to the area, hopes people from across the community will take part in the Parkrun, which is organised at venues across the country on Saturday mornings and is looking for help to get it off the ground.
The event involves running, jogging or walking 5k, with each runner scanned and then emailed with their time later.
Speaking at a meeting of Troon Community Council, Mr Khan said: “The Parkrun is a not-for-profit event and is not just for people in Lycra, anyone can take part. The youngest participants are seven to eight and the oldest 85."
He is looking to help set up the event but is seeking funding for it. The Community Council agreed to give him ideas on who to approach.
