SANTA Claus, complete with his new float, helped boost the coffers of local causes to the tune of almost £9,000.

The Troon Round Table Santa Float venture, which saw visits to houses in Troon, Barassie, Muirhead, Loans and Monkton helped secure £8920.

That came through donations from people on the door-to-door visits with Santa and his elves.

Good causes across the community benefit and the money raised will help fund the events Tablers organise each year, including the Troon Swimming Gala for Primary School children and the Fireworks Display.

The group are indebted to Mike Black - Head Reindeer, who drove the sleigh 90 per cent of the time); Ross Livingstone - Chief Elf (organised routes and wrangled the elves most night); Colin Hogg - Social media (responded to multiple messages and arranged the Santa Tracker) and Nicky Power (Services to Santa).

It has been a big year for Santa in Troon with the launch of his new sleigh all helped with the handiwork of Evan Gallacher.

Once again they thank Border Cars for the use of their Rudolph vehicle which with its unbelievable design has complemented the sleigh perfectly.

They are also grateful to staff of the South Beach Hotel who kindly provided volunteers with a delicious bowl of soup each night at the end of the routes and residents of the streets they have visited to help keep alive this Troon tradition.

Also the Round Table are indebted to volunteers.

They have also ha support from so many different organisations and in particular Troon Ladies Circle who have helped in marshalling duties.

A special get-together was held to say thanks to the Elves for their support in the South Beach Hotel on January 27.
