TROON'S plans for a ‘teen cafe’ took a step forward.

It was reported by Donna Read at last Tuesday’s Troon Community Council that Marr College’s headteacher was fully behind the move.

Groups in Troon are working with the Troon Youth Trust to create a teen cafe that will involve pupils from S1-6. It is hoped that S5 & S6 will run the cafe to learn the tricks of the trade of running a business.

The whole project will be run by Marr College pupils. The object is to teach pupils what it is like to run a business as well as creating ideas to make the business thrive.

Donna Read said at the TCC meeting: “We have had great support South Ayrshire Council, we have got a framework.

“Head of Marr College is happy to get pupils involved which is great.

“There is a demand and need for this to be here, get pupils into this project and teach them something as well about business.”

Chair of the Troon Community Council, Helen Duff was impressed by the TBA’s plans for the teen cafe as well as Deputy chair Dougie Graham.

It is also expected the teen cafe will be situated in an existing cafe in the town.

South Ayrshire Council were approached for comment on the teen cafe plans however could not provide an official comment.

They did confirm there hasn’t yet been an approach officially to the council by these groups and the Youth Trust
