THE Troon TSB branch is set to follow the Clydesdale Bank in closing its doors in the town.

It isn’t the only one in Ayrshire to shut as the Beith branch is also closing.
The news came just weeks after it was announced the Clydesdale Bank branch in Troon was going to close due to the rise of online banking.

MSP John Scott said:“Coming hard on the heels of news that the Clydesdale Bank branch in Troon is to close, the loss of the local TSB is another heavy blow. I recently raised the matter of local bank closures in the Scottish Parliament because I am concerned about the impact these closures will have, particularly on the elderly and least well off customers.”

The move now leaves the town with only three banks - The Royal Bank of Scotland, The Bank of Scotland and Santander

It is expected the closure will happen in June this year.

As reported in the media, Peter Navin at TSB said: “We’re different from some other banks. We love our branches and they are an important part of what TSB is here to do.

“People don’t go today where they went twenty years ago and we are reacting to that with changes to our network and a major investment programme.”
