DUNBLANE has Sir Andy Murray and Troon has Paul Foster.

Forster won his fifth World Indoor Bowling Championship last month and it is thought Troon should celebrate their sporting sensation.

At last Tuesday’s Troon Community Council, deputy chair Dougie Graham put to the council that a Civic Reception should be held for the Bowling champion.

He said: “Paul Foster won the World Championships in 1998, 2001, 2005, 2011 and 2017.

“We intend to write a congratulation letter to Paul on behalf of the Troon Community Council.

“We should look into holding a Civic Reception for Paul for his achievement.”

South Ayrshire Councillor Peter Convery also agreed Paul Foster should be celebrated and advised the Community Council to contact Provost Helen Moonie.

He said: “It is worth putting a letter to the current Provost. She might be able to get the reception into this council term rather than waiting until after the elections in May.

“Certainly deserves a Civic Reception.”

The idea of a Civic Reception for World Champion Paul Foster gained full support from the Troon Community Council.
