AFTER the Troon Gala Day received £1000 funding, it has been decided that there will not be a dog show this year.

The Troon Community Council are proposing to have the dog show either every second year or cut it completely from the Gala Day and have it as a separate fundraising event.

Helen Duff, the chairwoman of Troon Community Council, said: “There will be no dog show this year because we have the huge bouncy slide castle that will be at the Gala.

“I thought we could bring the dog show in every second year or because there was such a great attendance at the dog show, we could have a separate day for the dog show.

“There were also people complaining about having too many dogs and there were people saying its great having the dogs so we’ve got to please both sides.”

Anne Cameron added: “A few years ago, we had the dogs and they were fighting and we did everything we could to stop people from bringing their dogs.

“We asked them to bring them in from the top end and not to come out through the stalls.

“There was a woman with a huge Alsatian and that dog would have fought with its shadow and it was fighting with other dogs.

“I do not think its a good idea having the dogs at the Gala.

“Have it as a separate entity and we do not want an event involving dogs and children.”

It was also discussed that the Gala Day will have 25 stalls with two children’s rides with an additional bouncy castle.
This year, the fun packed event is on Saturday, June 24.
