THE DEADLINE for nominating you local health hero has been extended.
There is still time for Ayrshire locals to nominate their local hero, as the deadline for entries to Ayrshire Achieves has been extended to Friday, May 26.

Ayrshire Achieves, funded by NHS Ayrshire & Arran’s Charity Fund, gives people the chance to recognise the positive contribution of health workers and volunteers to the NHS.

Stewart Donnelly, employee director of Ayrshire and Arran NHS board, said: “We have already received some wonderful entries recognising the many fantastic people, projects and plans that demonstrate the purpose, values and commitments of our organisation.

“We want to give even more people the chance to nominate their local health hero, and so we have extended the deadline by another week.”

Any member of the public, employees of NHS Ayrshire & Arran and partner organisations can nominate an individual or team employed by NHS Ayrshire & Arran for an award.

Ayrshire Residents can also nominate a volunteer, voluntary group or charity for the volunteer’s award.

There are nine award categories this year and they are: building relationships; caring for people - incorporating the Isabella Kimmett Compassionate Care Award; caring for our staff; light bulb moments - creativity and innovation; behind the scenes; leading by example; rising star; volunteer of the year and team of the year.

Stewart added: “Every day we hear of examples of our dedicated staff going the extra mile.

"They don’t do this in anticipation of awards, but because they are committed to providing safe, high quality care.

"This is an opportunity for their colleagues and members of the public to say, ‘we noticed’ so if you know of someone who deserves to be recognised, we want to hear from you."
