PARK’S Saab garage on Doonfoot Road want to extend their showroom.

They have already submitted a planning application to South Ayrshire Council to change the use of open spaces to form a car park and vehicle access.

Residents who have concerns regarding the planning application still have time to voice them during the 21-day consultation process.

The issue was discussed at an Alloway and Doonfoot community council meeting where some members of the public voiced their concerns about the proposal and urged others to support them.

One resident told the meeting: “We are not aware of any resident support for the development and we are in the 21-day consultation period. Anyone that has concerns should speak out about them.

"The neighbour’s are horrified and we are going to follow this up. When I first moved in its was described as a flood zone. That is why the area was never built up.”

Another resident who wants to remain anonymous, said: “I know one person who has lived in the area has made contact with the council regarding this but they cannot do anything about this in the meantime.

Cllr Martin Dowey who attended the meeting, said: “I can speak to planning. When the time comes, we all get a vote, [to decide whether or not to allow this to go ahead] and I will certainly vote with what the majority of people want.

“If plans are not originally accepted, by planning, then plans can be bounced back and forward before it comes before a planning committee. I can volunteer to speak on your behalf at that.

“But if I do speak I won’t be able to vote on the matter.”

Residents at the meeting have urged others to speak out while they still have time.
