SILVERWARE success is being targeted by Prestwick Cricket Club after they continued their fine start to the season with a big win on Saturday.

The men from the Henry Thow Oval defeated easily defeated reigning Western Premier Division champions Clydesdale at Titwood to chalk up a fourth win from six.

Local rivals Ayr also racked up a third successive victory to leave them in third spot, marginally ahead of their derby rivals as we reach the midway point of the campaign on Saturday.

Prestwick skipper Shazad Rafiq is delighted with their progress and said after the game: "I felt we played really well and set a hard mark of 245 for nine. We changed the batting order to be more pro-active in the first 10 overs and we scored 80 runs which set a really good foundation and base. We a great wee knock of 22 from Ross Patterson, which was crucial after three low scores. It was good that Sachin Chaudhary played so well on his 50th birthday.

"It was a good win although their two best players were on Scotland duty. This should get momentum going after losing to Ayr.

Added the captain: "We are playing good cricket and hopefully we can keep the momentum going. We hope to win a cup - we are in the semi-finals of the Rowan Cup and the quarter-finals of the West League Cup next week so we will be looking to progress.

Local rivals Ayr are also in outstanding form.

They racked up a third successive victory, defeating East Kilbride away to leave them in third spot, marginally ahead of their derby rivals as we reach the midway point of the campaign at the weekend.

Ayr have home advantage against Kelburne on Saturday, while Prestwick host East Kilbride.
