WALKING enthusiasts took part in the Big Fit Walk around Girvan recently to raise awareness for Age Concern.

The event was organised by paths for all on June 22 and 12 people came and took part and made their way along the prom, harbour and past Stumpy Tower.

David Gilmartin, who organised the event, said: "There were 20 people who signed up to take part but only 12 turned up on the day.

"It was a great event and allowed people to come together and have a really good time. I am part of the ramblers in Paisley and I am hoping to set up a walking club with Age Concern.

"Once the walk was over we were served soup and sandwiches courtesy of Margaret David. Thank you to chairwoman Tricia Watts who played a big role in organising the event."
