AN AIR France plane was forced to conduct an emergency landing at Prestwick Airport due to fears of a potential fire.
The Paris to Vancouver flight, declared an emergency on Saturday, July 15 at around 1pm, after concerns were raised of a possible fire as passengers were alerted to a smell of burning.
It was confirmed that the AF374 was carrying 294 passengers and 13 crew members when it landed at Prestwick Airport.
A spokeswoman for Air France, said: “Air France confirms that flight AF374 operating from Paris CDG to Vancouver on July 15, was diverted to Glasgow Prestwick where it landed normally.
“Following the appearance of a light smell of burning, the crew, trained for this kind of situation applied the necessary precautions and diverted to the closest airport.
“Air France operated a flight on Saturday afternoon from Charles de Gaulle to Prestwick to bring the passengers back to Paris where alternative travel arrangements were made.”
