AN ISUZU pick up truck was set alight, in the early hours of Sunday morning, in Ballantrae.

Police are appealing for information following the wilful fire-raising incident which happened on Sunday, July 23

At 4am hours police and emergency services were called to a report of the truck having struck the gates of a property in Foreland. The vehicle was on fire at the time.

The vehicle was extensively damaged, and following a joint investigation between police and fire services, the incident is being treated as wilful.

Detective Constable Paul McRoberts from Ayr CID said: “This was a deliberate and reckless act and it is absolutely vital that we establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident and find the person responsible.

“I would appeal to anyone who may have seen someone acting suspiciously in Foreland, or the surrounding area, in the early hours of Sunday morning to get in touch.

“Anyone with information is asked to contact officers at Ayr CID via 101 and quote incident number 1055 of Sunday 23rd July 2017. Alternatively you can call CRIMESTOPPERS on 0800 555 111 where details can be given in confidence.”
