AYR based community interest company Bright Light Arts has been awarded more than £9000 from the Big Lottery Fund.

It aims to deliver a series of artist-led crafts workshops with a range of community groups in South Ayrshire, followed by prop making workshops open to the public.

These ‘Making Extravaganzas’, along with samba drumming workshops, will support the Day o’ the Deid procession in Ayr town centre in October, to mark the end of Tamfest.

Bill Grant MP is delighted at the success of Bright Light Arts. He said: “This is great news for the area.

“Bright Light Arts is an exciting new kid on the block which has received a £9,120 grant under the Creative Scotland Awards for All banner.”

The new funding will help run a series of group sessions for around 20 young people, including two residential events, focusing on life skills such as cooking and employability.

Bright Light Arts is a community interest company, set up this year.
