THIS weekend's Live @Troon Festival have nominated their chosen charity as Musicians Against Homelessness.

The Musicians Against Homelessness campaign was launched by former Oasis guru Alan McGee last year, when more than 500 bands and artists performed at festivals and events throughout the whole of England, Scotland and Wales during the month of September.

In the last 12 months since then the project has attracted world-wide attention, along with public support from celebrities such as singers Lilly Allen and Liam Gallagher and author Irvine Welsh.

The project is now back for a second year, and for the first time Live@Troon are delighted to be one of the organisations involved in supporting and promoting this initiative.

The major aims of the Musicians Against Homelessness (MAH) project are to raise vital funds for their chosen homeless charities, and to provide gig opportunities for up-and-coming bands.

This ethos is perfectly in tune with the future goals for Live@Troon proposed by the new Chairman, Colin Sinclair McDermott who took over at the helm of the committee this year.

Along with his team of willing volunteers, Colin is dedicated to promoting the aims of Live@Troon as not only an annual fundraising event, but as a group of people who are committed to supporting their entire community.

The committee are always working away behind the scenes for the entire year organising local events and fundraising for local charities - which include Seascape, Playlist for Life, Hansel Village and Troon Ivy Cottage in 2017.

The Organisers at Live@Troon are very much looking forward to the festivities to be held from Friday until Sunday, and appreciate all the support the community give them each year in attending local charity dates and concerts.
