A WOMAN turned on police who were trying to help her after she was heard screaming she had been attacked.

Natalie King of King Street, Prestwick admitted shouting and swearing at police and behaving in an aggressive manner towards the, at a flat in Ayr in February.

The 25-year-old appeared before Sheriff Mhari Mactaggart at Ayr Sheriff Court last week. The court heard how King could be heard screaming she had been attacked but when officers attended she turned on them.

Depute Fiscal, Andrew Lazzarin, explained: "The accused was in the property, shouting, swearing and throwing items about.

"It made her neighbour think she was being attacked and she required help. The police were contacted and attended the flat.

"King shouted out the window 'help I'm being attacked'. The police went into the close and found a number of people there. The accused continued screaming that she was being attacked from inside the flat.

"Police asked to be let in. One of the people in the close had a key but officers still had to force entry. King was inside, alone and intoxicated.

"They asked her about the attack and saw the door key. She was asked why she hadn't let the police in. King started thrashing about on the floor.

"Information was taken from another witness and the accused was arrested. She took that poorly and started shouting and swearing at them.

"She called them a 'specky p**k, ugly b**ch and f****ing p**ck."

Speaking on his behalf, defence solicitor, John Gallagher, said: "She had been with a number of friends within the flat and they had been drinking.

"Her position was she had been attacked which led to her erratic behaviour. She has shown me photographs and was hysterical.

"Ms King could not respond property to the police who were trying to assist her. There is a record before the court which does Natalie King no favours.

"Most of these incidents took place between 2009 and 2010. There was one other matter last year and it is regrettable she is before the court again. "

Addressing the dock, Sheriff Mactaggart said: "Ms King there is a social work report suggesting a structured deferred sentence would be appropriate.

"I am prepared to go down that route but you have to be clear that you need to address your alcohol problems and this binge drinking.

"I will call you back in three months."

King has been placed on a structured deferred sentence for three months and will reappear at Ayr Sheriff Court in November.

Her bail has been revoked.
