A PLANNING application has been submitted for a 50-bed care home in Troon.
The company, Northcare, is proposing for a new “high-quality fit for purpose” care home facility at Templehill with associated infrastructure, landscaping, access and car parking.
The current site is occupied by an office building, which is located near to Port Ranald Drive and close to the town centre of Troon and Troon Harbour.
The potential development would comprise a three-storey building with two wings, each with 12 or 13 bedrooms and all bedrooms would hold a view of Templehill or the residential gardens.
It would hold a day room, dining room and other facilities for residents, including quiet rooms, linen stores, domestic services and assisted bathrooms.
It is proposed that the ground floor would provide “accommodation required for the functioning care home, and two levels of residential accommodation above providing for 50 in-suite rooms, kitchen and laundry facilities, a visitor café, a cinema, a private dining room and a beauty salon.”
Pedestrian and vehicular access to the site would be from Templehill and it also serves direct access to the public road network with pedestrian, cycle and public transport access and parking provision that includes 22 spaces and two accessible spaces. Bus stops are located within 200 metres of the site.
A spokesman for Troon Community Council, said: "The planning application was discussed briefly by members of the community council at Tuesday's meeting. At this time we have no comment to make."
