CONCERNS have been raised that a site visit to the Honda garage on Doonfoot Road could pull the wool over councillor's eyes.

Owners are hoping to expand the operation of the dealership by changing the use of open space and extending behind the garage to form car parking and create a vehicle access.

The aim is to create a surfaced yard area with access onto Cunning Park Drive, secured with a fence and screened by hedge/tree plantings.

It would also create the opportunity for the expansion of service bays, a showroom and a sales facility.

But objectors don't want the facility to expand as they believe it has outgrown itself and would be more suited in Heathfield Industrial Estate.

At a public meeting Marilyn Dalgleish explained: "I was at the[council] meeting. The owners explained they wanted the work shop expanded and car parking increased to 25 spaces.

"South Ayrshire Council want to complete a site visit before they make a decision on the garage. But we all know Honda will move the cars out of site."

Cllr Martin Dowey, said: "Everyone knows the problems with parking down there. Those who complete the site visit will not be fooled.

"We will be looking at the interests of the local people. About 30/40 people have emailed us."

Cllr Lee Lyons added: "The more we say here the less we can say there. We will be more effective if we can listen here and take that back."

It was pointed out that the garage was been there for some time and has grown over the years.

The buildings has been used by Honda, SAAB and Honda again.
