TROON’S second annual indoor music festival will take place in November and is expected to attract some 600 people to the town.

Winterstorm will run all day Friday, November 24, Saturday, November 25 and Sunday, November 26 with 40 per cent of tickets sold to music lovers outwith Troon.

Jonathan Morton, of Winterstorm, applied to South Ayrshire Council’s licensing board for an occasional licence to serve alcohol at the Town Hall.

At the meeting Mr Morton said: “We want to build on last year. We received great feedback from tourists from LA and Japan who were talking about Troon.”

Licensing officer Catriona Andrews said: “The event takes over the full space of the Troon Town Hall and Walker Hall with the aim of providing a ‘festival feel’ and there is one main bar area and a smaller one within the reception room which is being used for the after show party.

“There is also an area selling merchandise and food served until 11pm and it is a ticket only event with a maximum capacity of 800.

“The application now requests access for children and young persons aged 10-17 years to be permitted until midnight and excluded from the main bar area and the room in which the after show party is being held.

“Additionally under 18’s will not be permitted beyond midnight, however the application requests a terminal hour of 2am (in the reception room for the after show party) on Friday and Saturday and midnight on the Sunday.

“Additionally the organiser has agreed to provide a re-fillable drinking cup for under 18’s who attend the event to ensure that their drinks are clearly identifiable and those supervising will be able to clearly see these are soft drinks.

“They intend to extend this to designated drivers who are consuming soft drinks during the event.

“All alcohol will be decanted and paper straws as oppose to plastic will be used.”

It has been confirmed that children and young persons aged 10 to 17 years must leave the premises by midnight, the main bar outside the concert hall will close at midnight, no alcohol will be permitted in the balcony area of the Concert Hall and everyone will be issued with a colour coded wristband.

Everyone under the age of 18 will be given a red wristband. Anyone wearing a red wristband or no wristband will not be sold, or allowed to consume alcohol.

Under 18’s will not be permitted to approach the bar and will not be permitted access to the reception room. There will be a minimum of 12 licensed stewards on duty throughout the event.

Troon Town Hall and the Walker Hall will be open until 2am on the Friday and Saturday and midnight on Sunday.
