A MAN shouted at his partner, calling her a 'w***e and a tramp' until 2:30am before threatening to kick her door down.

Tony McLean, of Sannox View, Ayr admitted acting aggressively towards the woman, repeatedly demanding entry to her property and uttering threats last month.

On the same night the 37-year-old by headbutting one police officer and seizing and scratching another officer on the body.

McLean appeared before Sheriff Desmond Leslie at Ayr Sheriff Court last week. The court heard how accused and the complainer had been in a relationship for 16 years but stay at separate addresses.

Depute Fiscal, Lorri Pidgeon, said: "On the evening in question the witness and McLean were drinking alcohol but McLean accused the woman of sleeping with someone else.

"He became angry called her a w***e and a tramp which continued until 2:30am. She told him to leave and said she would call the police.

"Officers attended [and left] and McLean could see the woman was crying through the window and told her to let him back in.

"She was scared and refused to let him in. McLean said 'let me in you f***ing cow' and said he was going to kick the door down.

"Police were contacted again. Due to his aggressive behaviour one of the officers had to use his batten and struck the accused to the leg and caused him to fall to the ground.

"McLean started lashing out and headed butted one of the police officers in the face, causing scratching and bruising.

"The accused was informed he was under arrest and placed upon the ground. He was taken to the police station."

Speaking on is behalf, defence solicitor, Glenn Davis said: "The couple had been facing problems in their relationship and had separated for six months.

"They had just got back together but an argument escalated quickly."

Addressing the dock, Sheriff Leslie, said: "Your behaviour towards your partner was abusive and your behaviour towards the police was entirely inappropriate.

"These are people doing their job."

McLean has been tagged for three months and will remain under curfew from 7pm to 7am. He has also been placed on a community payback order under supervision for 12 months.
