A GIRVAN woman has been appointed as the Principal of a new performing arts college in Glasgow.

Yasmin Bryce, was born, bred and educated in Girvan at both Girvan Primary School and Girvan Academy and both her parents were originally from Girvan.

Yasmin has recently been appointed as the Principal of the new Pauline Quirke Academy of Performing Arts in Glasgow, opening later this month.

Speaking about her success, Yasmin, said: “I first applied for the post after I saw an advert on Creative Scotland. I was invited for a first interview at Heathrow Airport.

"I then went through a rigorous process of several more interviews with different people at head office and then finally a week’s residential training at a conference facility near High Wycombe where I met with Pauline - who a wonderful woman who is so passionate about the arts and how it can benefit young people.

“I am really looking forward to meeting young people with a passion for the arts or an interest in trying something new and creating a fun, dynamic atmosphere for them.”
