TWO applications submitted to South Ayrshire Council to redevelop Strathdoon House have been withdrawn.
The category B listed detached property was originally built as a house on Ayr’s prestigious Racecourse Road but last used by the NHS.
It was previously marketed as a conversion/extension opportunity by the Ayr office of DM Hall, one of Scotland’s leading independent firms of Chartered Surveyors.
Strathdoon House was built as a fine town house but more recently it has been used as an NHS clinic and offices. But it has been permanently closed its doors to the public in 2013 but many feel something should be done to regenerate the building and bring it back.
The issue was recently addressed a public meeting where planning applications for the area were discussed. Locals feel plans should fit character of the building.
One member of the public, who did not wish to be named, said: “We don’t want something just stuck on the back of Strathdoon.”
